A couple months ago I was traveling through Mexico (Since I was in Tuscon= anyway) and I noticed many streets where named Allende, resturants and o= ther places used Allende as part of it name. It made me want to steal a = street sign, just kidding. That would have been a bad ideal, the border g= uards where curious enough about my earthmagnets.... Anyway, so I guess = I was saying they have Allende named things everywhere in Mexico. For th= ose that do not know Allende was one of the first (I think the second) fr= eedom fighter leaders. You know...for Mexican Independance... I remember two things f= rom 7th grade spanish. One is that when there are two ll's next to each othe= r in a word its pronounced like a "y." The other is "Hola, me llamo es muy feo avion." I just took the class. I didn't say I did well in it. (I had asked about Ghubara). As for Allende, I've always pronounced it: Ah-yen'-day. How 'bout Sikhote-Alin? My guess has been: Si-ko'-tay Al-in'... --Rob -----Original Message----- From: Tom [mailto:michguy7_at_mac.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 03, 2002 11:10 AM To: Jay Haynes; meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] meteorite pronunciation I need some help too.
