I just came across this article, which is of some significance regarding the recent discussion if the Tunguska object might have been a fregment of comet 2P/Encke: P.Farinella et al: "Probable asteroidal origin of the Tunguska Cosmic Body" Astronomy and Astrophysics, Vol. 377, pp. 1081-1097 (published on 21. Oct. 2001) According to this article, the Tunguska object probably had an asteroidal orbit (83%) rather than a cometary orbit (17%). The abstract is availabe online via ADS: <http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/nph-bib_query?bibcode=2001A%26A...377.1081F&db_key=AST&high=3bdece105619059> (Make sure to squeeze the URL in one line...)
