[meteorite-list] AVIRIS image of Meteor Crater

It has been suggested that it could be a cryptovolcanic feature. I am no
expert on them however. Didn't notice any signs of recent volcanism (i.e.
lavas and such) in the form of cinder cones, within 100 miles of the Dome. I
agree, it could very well be a piched off salt diapir. There was salt in the
dry stream beds down in the feature.
It was kinda funny. All the pro-impact folks kept saying, "there is no salt,
so it is a crater". I once said "well there is no shock metamorphic
features, therefore it is a salt dome", and was immediately hushed. I love
science.
