I'm on the side of the good guys.... I'm that shallow!!! I notice that in my Allende slice, some of the CAIs appear to be zoned, that is they have a roughly central area of a greyer material than the rest of the CAI that surrounds it. Can any of you erudite people afford me an explanation as to how the gray inner region varies chemically/lithologically to the outer portion. I am assuming that there was some sort of differentiation going on here whilst the CAIs were forming, and bearing in mind that I do not know whether the CAIs are extrasolar material or refractory particles that formed close to the Sun during the protoplanetary disk phase (ie c. orbit of Mercury) I would like to know a model for this phenomenon. Anyway, no misspelling of Vigarano this time at least.... very best regards - BTW - If Dr Monica Grady lurks this list - I'd love to have a 'personal' cruise around the NHM collection at a suitably slack time for you! I got a lot to learn! Please respond offlist to me! Thanks in anticipation! -- In gentle decay, d. http://www.meteorites.ic24.net/index.html http://www.thc.u-net.com/davethc1.htm "I have a proof that x^n+y^n=z^n never has integer solutions for n>2. However, it won't fit into my signature file...."Received on Sun 24 Jun 2001 03:19:14 PM PDT |
