Hi folks, without too much judging on the differently motivated opinions of the "opponents", who raise their voices every now and then here on this list, let me add another example of a very beautiful meteorite, which now seems to be widely distributed in collections, and which NEVER EVER got an official acceptance by the NomCom of the Meteoritical Society in a Meteoritical Bulletin (well, at least not to my actual knowledge): an LL3 meteorite still sold under the (provisional, not official!) name of "Begaa". And there are other candidates in this sad game... You may answer each of the following questions to yourselves: (1) Why didnīt the early main mass holders (known to many of us in the case of Begaa) provide the necessary informations and a science sample for the meteorite to get an official entry for it in the Bulletin, and so finally an official name? (2) Why did they sell this (and others) under a special name, sounding good, and not a field name or something like that, at least: why didnīt they publicly say the name they choose for marketing was only a provisional one? Know the answer, lads and gents..?? :-) The NomCom may have tough laws, but these are very reasonable, and I admit I agree to what the Pelissons state in their last sentence cited above, though, as I said, I wonīt judge on the internal fightings that seem to take place between different groups out there in the field (..or should I say: on the Morroccan marketplaces sometimes..:-)). Any stones to be thrown here?
