Hi All,

I just got a call from a coworker on his drive home south
on the 405 freeway in Carson, CA, (just south of the 110
freeway) saying he observed a bright, fragmenting ("sparking")
meteor east of his location. Approximate time was 6:22pm
PST (30 January) and the direction of travel was nearly
straight down toward the horizon (if 6 o'clock is straight
down, the direction was roughly 5:30). Color was white-yellow,
with extinction occurring about 10 degrees above the horizon
(which definitely puts the extinction point over land,
somewhere in Orange or Riverside County). Did anyone else
observe this meteor (allowing for the possibility of
triangulation)? --Rob
