Have him meet you when you = leave your room in the morning AND STAY WITH YOU. They guide will advise you as to local custom, will help in = negotiating in the local manner, interpret, protect your interests. c) Pay him well and when you return, hire the same person. As you gain = trust and a business relationship, he will work more for you. The cost to you will be much better than if you wing it on your own and = try to negotiate by yourself. I learned these techniques when I first went to Egypt for three weeks. = I went with a group led by Dr. Krupp (Archaeoastronomer, through UCLA) = and learned how it works. Two years later I went back on my own and followed the above guidelines, = I went everywhere, the length of the Nile, out of the way places no = tourists go, my own schedule, and the guides I used were 1000% helpful. = They paved the way.
