This "Meteor" thread is interesting. Maybe we can gain some insight into
the problem by reading Alan Rubin and Jeffery Grossman's article titled
"What is a Meteorite? The Pursuit of a Comprehensive Definition" in the
August 1998 issue of Meteorite! Magazine.
In case this thread goes the way of trying to define a meteorite (and I
have noticed indications of such) the article, written by two experts,
spans two pages, and their final definition of a meteorite is 42 words
long. And even this definition required three additional clarifications.
