Hi: I have always used the following definitions: Meteor The light phenomena associated with a meteorite's passage thru the atmosphere. Meteoroid A "rock" in space. Meteorite A "rock" from space that hits the earth (or other astronomical body). I think if earth is defined to include its' atmosphere there is no overlap or gap in the definitions. How can I improve on these definitions? Thanks, Peter Scherff
