Fireballs Over Canada

Forwarded From Shawn Mitchell (smitchel@ap.stmarys.ca):

The department of Astronomy & Physics at Saint Mary's University (Halifax)
has been collecting reports about this fireball. From the initial data we
have there apears to have been a high altitute detonation above an area
Northeast of Halifax (Porters lake, Musquodoboit area) and the track of the
brightest object takes it out to sea. We have also recieved some reports
that at first seemed wrong (meteor going in the wrong direction), but think
these sightings may indicate that a large single object broke up at high
altitude and only a few of the larger fragments were seen radiating out
from the breakup point. More reports are needed to confirm if this explains
the event.
