During the research for the feature on Nakhla that appeared in Meteorite!
(May & August '98) I exchanged several e-mails with Hap McSween and according
to him, at least re:Nakhla, Lafayette and Gov Val, "It is almost a certainty
that all three meteorites were ejected from the same body of rock on Mars at
the same time. Whether they were ejected as three different pieces or one
piece we can't say."
re: cosmic ray exposure - rocks blasted off of Mars can and will be further
fragmented as they bang around in space exposing fresh surface to cosmic
radiation, "resetting the clock" and accounting for differences in cosmic ray
exposure age.
Besides S, N, C and ALH84001, what's the fifth type of Mars rock?
