I tend to agree, and I would extend the analogy to include "established 
English METEORITE pronunciation" as well.   Gibeon, Chassigny, and 
Sikhote Alin would qualify as words coming <<exclusively from the other 
language>> but there are "established" anglicized pronunciations most 
of us observe.  Otherwise, we would all be faced with the prospect of 
re-learning the above pronunciations, and many more, based on the 
intricacies of the dialects of their places-of-origin.  There's probably 
some grey area, as far as which anglicized-meteorite pronunciations 
are considered "established" & which are not, but the bantering
about it is fun, and "vive le difference".
