Trinitite Reality

Dear List Members:

I have been watching all the activity on Trinitite....

Own some, and the key is understanding potential danger, addressing it,
and putting it in perspective.

I have been in environmental monitoring and remediation in MANY
capacities and personally know that the effects of polluted air,
varying levels of cosmic ray exposure, the hole in the ozone layer,
RADON.... and ITS varying threat levels... scattered throughout the
country, tainted food supply.... buried barrels...

and watching the supermarket shelf to know that the reality that we are
all more inclined to buy distilled water... than not... is becoming more
evident.

Looking at the above indicators just listed,  that to fear a specimen of
Trinitite... properly sequestered... is not particularly necessary.

Being a mineral and environmental specialist... the gamut of things that
we have on our planet.. is NOT in our control.  I cannot see certain
distances into the land around me, which my house and business sits on.
I am in radon country, and have measured for it.  The levels vary and
will vary day to day... but with proper ventilation risks are reduced.

So, getting things into perspective... those of us who have Trinitite
... enjoy it..... be careful, true, but maybe look to that hamburger,
the air, or that glass of water... for the real threat.

Enjoy ALL your specimens, folks, ... know about them... study them... as
they are interesting and precious.

Enjoy learning and life.
