Just caught the end of a report on the nightly TV news here in Dallas,
TX......
There was a major fireball that came out of the west, at approximately 18:00
hours local time this evening. THERE IS VIDEO of the final few seconds of
the object, caught by an amateur. It closely resembles Peekskill, in that
there were at least four distinct pieces, each trailing smaller pieces
behind. Reports were that it was multi-colored.
The news was clear to point out that it (almost certainly) could not have
been a Leonid, due to both the time it occurred, and the fac that it came out
of the West. They offered the possibilities that it may have been reentering
space debris or a satellite, or "just" a non-Leonid meteorite.
