Hi Guys,
Hope you are all doing well. First and foremost, i was wondering if i
could get some opinions. I recently had a guy call me and and said he
thought he had a meteorite. I went and looked at it, and, at first
impression, i thought, no, don't think so. Anyway. The thing weighed about
800g, and what discouraged me was that it looked like pryite (sp?), besides
that, it had the right shape, regmaglpts, and what appeared to be flow lines
in one of the remaglypts! Also, in one of the remaglypts, was what appeared
to be crystals. They looked JUST like the ones pictured in Rocks From Space
on page 205. I pretty much dismissed this as slag because of the "look" of
shiney pyrite. It was slightly attracted to a magnet. If anyone thinks
this is worth pursueing, please let me know.
Second,
I will be going to Santa Fe in the next few weekends, and, my last
trip there (last year) i met a gentlemen who had a shop there who delt in
meteorites. ( This was before i was interested or knew anything about
meteorites). His arms were covered in tattoos and he told me he had just
returned from Africa on a buying trip. First question is....are you on this
list? And second question is...does anyone know of this guy? I'm planning
on making contact with him on my trip.
Thanking you all very much
Joel
