Hi gang,
Just been flicking thru a UK weekly entertainment magazine, and found this...
<snip>
HEAT, 10 - 16 April 1999
"Nic Cage has paid £30,000 (30 thousand pounds) for a piece of Mars. The
actor bought the rock, taken from a meteorite which landed in Africa in 1962,
at an LA auction. It's authenticated by NASA and cage reckons it's 'a cool
thing for your kids to take to school' "
<snip> ends
Okay... a few questions raised by this... :-)
Who sold the meteorite?
How did "NASA" authenticate it? (surely it wasn't their meteorite?)
Is he *really* going to let his kids take a piece of rock worth that much
money to a school in LA??
Is this going to spark off a celebrity meteorite-buying bonanza? Maybe Mr
Willis will fancy owning a piece of the asteroid he helped save Earth from in
Armageddon?
Hmmmm.....
Stu
