Hi folks!
There is an interesting article in the December 1998 issue of Sky &
Telescope by Bradley E. Schaefer - Meteors That Changed The World (pp.
68-75):
- The fabulous Leonid meteor storms
- The Bronze Age/The Iron Age
- Sacred Stones (with a photo of the Black Stone in the Kaaba*)
- Elagabalus
- The Black Stone of the Kaaba
- The end of the dinosaurs
- Target Earth (Chicxulub/Tunguska)
* The first I have ever seen - the grooves look like it is a tektite or
an impact glass, maybe Wabar => p. 73
There is also a pic of the 1,635 pound Red River iron meteorite from
central Texas and three Mbale villagers with a 24-pound Mbale specimen.
Best wishes,
Bernd
