Hello Jim, Steve and all, It is unfortunate that the American Way is coming to mean grab whatever you can for yourself. We've had great roll models in Washington and big business. But to give the benefit of the doubt to the officials of Beaver County and Monahans, The Beaver County L5 was used as a doorstop for 40 years UNTIL it was recognized as a meteorite. And according to one of Steve Arnold's post, Monahans officials are planning to display the specimens under Plexiglas (at least until their budget is short). Still hope the kids get the one they found, however.
