Hi Alex, Steven and list,

affairs under the label of "The Fight for Truth, Justice & the American
Way". Isn't it conspicuous that all those listies that you are
addressing seem to be so quiet these days."
Hello Alex,
There may be good reasons for this silence (at which you may be
hinting). Were I in another country, it would appear to me on
reading the subject of this thread that Americans are trying to claim
exclusively Truth and Justice as the American way. Therefore, some
clarity may be needed in this regard.
The American cartoon and film character Superman which originated in the
1950's (?) has a long introduction which includes as a description of
Superman's abilities such things as : (He is) 'faster than a speeding
bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings at
a single bound ', and goes on to end with the phrase , "in a
never-ending fight for Truth, Justice and the American way." So
while it may appear we are trying to claim Truth and Justice as ours
alone, the phrase simply embodies the ideals imbedded in an American
cartoon icon.
Further, we had a recent thread on this list where jokes were bandied
about referring to Superman which may have invoked this catch phrase.
Hello Steven:
While it is true that we have too many attourneys, it is also true that
we do not have enough good attourneys.
Best Wishes,
Julia
