Henry,
I once found two tiny spherical metallic (and magnetic) objects that
were inside deep pockets in a Mung Nong tektite. They had to have been
enclosed before the tektite hardened because of the close surroundings.
I had to pry them out with a needle under magnification. These tell me
that it was an iron meteorite that impacted and formed these tektites.
Your case sounds similar. I also have never heard of similar findings so
I just keep it to myself wondering what they are.
