Hello Jim,
First of all, please accept my sincere apologies for attributing Jim
Strope's beautiful Sikhote-Alin specimen to you. I was, of course,
thinking of your HdD 'boulder' on Mike Farmer's homepage. This specimen
is as terrific as the S-A.
Hello Jim and all the other List Members,
I would like to draw your attention to the following Sky & Telescope
article:
METEORITES THAT GLOW (July 1980, pp. 14-16). If you don't have access to
this article, please let me know and I will email it to you and/or to
the list (in case you are interested).
Just as interesting as the above mentioned article but more scientific
are the following:
GUIMON R.K. et al. (1987) Thermoluminescence of separated Allegan
chondrules and chondrite thermal history and cooling rates (Meteoritics
22-4, 1987, A396).
BENOIT P.H. et al. (1993) Natural thermoluminescence of meteorites VI:
Carbon-14, thermoluminescence and the terrestrial ages of meteorites
(Meteoritics 28-2, 1993, 196-203).
Regards, Bernd
