Dear Jeane,
	There are two primary theories of tektite origin:
1) the are the result of large meteorite strikes on earth - melting of
silica and ejecting it through the atmosphere at high speads
2) Lunar vulcanism
	Those holding to the first theory laugh at those holding the second
theory. They further "point out" that "over 95% of serious scientists
adhere to the 1st theory.
	Those holding to the second theory maintain there are insurmountable
flaws in the 1st theory and that adherents of the 1st theory just happen
to be in controling positions as to who gets published in geornals.

	An outstanding summary of the two positions and the flaws related to
each is elucidated in Hal Povenmire's book, TEKTITES: A COSMIC PARADOX.
