Dear Mailing list members,
We are always as much surprised by authentic advertising on the mailing
list from Meteorites Dealers and again more when these advert are
responsible of some confusion about new meteorites from Sahara !
Dear Erich, there are sameness in the description of your LL3 and the
description of our Sahara 97210 L ( LL ) 3, highly unequilibrated !!
In your advert you propose:
<<<<<< New LL3 from the Saharan Desert ( found in December1997) for
only
$16.50/grm for slices + 2 end pieces.
(Very thin slices of the LL3 we offer for $29/gr retail or $22/grm for
resellers.)
This rare new Amphoterite is of high scientific value. It is also an
enrichment for any advanced collector. It is highly unequilibrated. Our
slices show very nice big chondrules ( wonderful under lupe), many
chondrules types) and extremely low metal.>>>>
And in our last meteorites list we propose:
Sahara 97210: L(LL)3, highly unequilibrated.
One very fresh specimen found during our last trip
in December 1997 in the Sahara Desert. Weight 3200g. Thin slices with
very nice big chondrules ( wonderfull under microscope ! all chondrules
types ) and very low metal.
PS: There exists notably some Dar AL Gani type 3, for
example DAG 313, Tot Weight= 3294g, unequilibrated chondrite type 3/w1-2.
Pictures are visible on the SML site. This meteorite, found in Libya (
not the same country of our meteorites! ) is completly different of the
Sahara 97210 we have found.
What do you think about these sameness:
YOU: It is highly unequilibrated.Our
slices show very nice big chondrules ( wonderful under lupe), many
chondrules types) and extremely low metal.
AND WE: Thin slices with very nice big chondrules (
wonderfull under microscope ! all
chondrules types ) and very low metal.
You understand that collectors have some confusion about these two
different meteorites !! Have you a picture to compare with the
very fresh Sahara
97210 ( 10K file in Jpeg with a partial view 10x10mm
).
To finish, we think that the mailing list does not have
to be a battlefields for the meteorites dealers !
PS: We are interested by your offer of a free fragment of Hamada
du Draa because we have not this meteorite. We will send you tomorrow a
$5 check for postage and handling to France.

Marc, Luc and Jim Labenne
