>The solution to runaway prices, whether caused by short lived publicity

I have to agree with this 100%. I've been involved with bidding on many
meteorites since I've become interested in them. It seems the asking price
for many of them is way above what the market will bear. Just recently I've
seen a beautiful piece of regmaglypted Sikote-Aline weighing 110 grams, that
any dealer would ask $300 or more for, not even make it to $120. This
reflects the true value of these meteorites . If the buyers are not willing
to pay outragious amounts for meteorite, then meteorite will not sell for
outragious sums.
The "Beanie Baby" mentality for meteorites will, I hope, burn itself out.
The dealers, who are not only NOT immune to this, ( several of them seem to
have this worse than anyone I've seen!) After getting burned several time
buy paying high initial prices, will come around to a more reasonable
approach to new finds, and the meteoritic community will be better off IMHO.
