In the past it became commonplace for researchers to complain about the
increasing unaffordability of specimens for research because collectors
were entering the competition and driving up the prices. Acrimonious
division was the trend on one one hand, while on the other hand smart
researchers whose grants were exceeded by their dreams began making
connections to private hunters. Now collectors are beginning to feel a
similar pinch as the broader public gets into the picture. The solution
won't be as easy for collectors. One thing stands out: researchers and
collectors can now say to one another, "I feel your pain."
