Re: MONAHANS, TEXAS METEORITE PURCHASE
I am sure I'll get blasted for this, but what makes this meteorite so
special as to pay 16/g for an H6? I am thinking ahead as this may have
a bearing on the future market of meteorites for both collectors and
dealers who purchase them out of the field. If this purchase happens
and is publicized you or I (collecors/dealers) may not see another H6,
L6, or ordinary chondrite for under 10/g. The average farmer, where
most meteorites come from, will expect to get 10-15/g (some expect that
now) for their weathered ordinary chondrite, which in my opinion, is
only worth 2-3/g max on the market after cutting. Call me cheap, but
lets get real. Michael, this was not aimed at you, I just wanted a
reason for the price and to give my opinion on the future of this
market. Best wishes,
