I'm somewhat surprised. I was just telling someone that in the German
language when a word is borrowed from another language, the original
pronunciation (and I think, spelling) is retained, unlike English
which invariably anglicizes the "borrowed" word. I'm more curious
than ever how the Italians spell and pronounce their word.

Hello List!
I just wanted to throw in that the German word is ' B R E K Z I E '. So
I suppose the 'k' should be pronounced. Just my thought!
