Info from McPherson: 4 meteorites were discovered missing from McPherson Museum on 7/5/98
Johnstown, Colorado, diogenite, silver dollar size slice 1/4" thick, light with some fusion crust on one side
Holbrook, NM (AZ), chondrite L6, golf ball size, whole stone, dark brown-black
Brenham, KS, stony-iron, 12-14" x 10-12" slice, 5/8-3/4" thick, metallic with dark brown/yellow crystals, stabilized by Nininger
Potter, NE, chondrite L6, golf ball size fragment, dark brown to black
The 2nd & 3rd specimens were donated by H.H. Nininger. The meteorites were removed from a locked cabinet and the other specimens on display rearranged to fill the voids; they could have been missing for a while. Any leads: McPherson police 316-245-1225.
Rumor has it that several other small museums in the plains states have been hit-anybody have information on this?
