Re: Carbonates and CI chondrites: Orgueil Age

Hello Bernd,

Thank you for the citation.

I read the abstract. What it appears to indicate is if the evidence holds,
C1 chondrites may have their origin on Mars. It also indicates there is
similar geochemistry between Orgueil and Chassigny. The abstract points out
two distinct C1 oxygen isotope populations in their olivine grains. One
"Fe-poor forsteritic population lying on the CAI line and an Fe-rich
population lying, with considerable scatter, on the terrestrial or MM
material fractionation lines..."

Personally, I don't see a clear connection with C1s and ALH84001, except
for their relationship if the C1's turn out to be of Martian origin. Do
you know more about this, or have additional details about the entire
presentation or paper?

Sincerely,

Martin
