Michael I may not follow you but I'll give a shot at this. First Monahans,
though unique is still represented as an ordinary chondrite. Each fall is
special but if there is a bunch of the material from other falls that represent
this material in plentyful form then it should be priced at a reduced rate.
After all why should I care if I buy Plainview or Monahans if they represent a
simular meteorite. On the other hand the lunar material is very unique and
rare. Never before have people been able to aquire a piece of the moon that is
within there grasp depending on how much of the material you wish to hold.

There is about 1957 grams of total lunar material in private hands. Of this
only a very small quanity has been offered. I am not sure but I think that
about 30 to 50 grams are out there in the hands of collectors or dealers world
wide, making this a very rare item. On the other hand there have been sevearl
tons of the ordinary chondrites offer or for sale. That is the basis for
offering the material at the $25,000 a gram range. This is what it took to
convince those holding the material to let go of a little bit for other to
study and apperciate.

Everyone that knows me, knows that I wish for prices to be kept at a fair rate
so others can continue to enjoy collecting these rare relics from space. If you
feel that $50 is fair for a ordinary chondrite pay it. If it is not fair don't
pay it. I for one feel that the lunar material is a bargin considering that it
is thousands of times more rare than Monahans. That is the common sense of the
whole thing. Best regards to all!
