EH -secrets of ambiguous locations are already revealed :
A kind ofr Eldorado started in 97 in the Sahara after an meteorite and
outdoor survival
expert from France made big reports on Internet and in Newspapers that he
found 37 new
meteorites in Sahara.
Of course this public announcement started a big rush of meteorite-mania in
the Sahara.
Everybody thought if this French man found many meteorites on his 2 trips
he could
probably find , too a meteorite in the Sahara.
Dozens of different meteorite hunters traveled to Libya immediately in only
a
few months for the purpose to acquire cheaply meteorites or find them
themselves.
Nearly all these hunters returned very frustrated since the results were
very poor or nill.
The reason was a singular but wrong anticipation: Meteorite hunters first
speculated
Labenne found his meteorites in the Central - Sahara, Libya , Tunisia or
Egypt. -
Labenne didnt tell the country of origin of his beautiful meteorites - .
However
Labenne did make very precise records of the exact positions of the
discovered strewn
fields what is of high scientific value.
On the one hand its really of no scientific value anymore to have the
country of origin
of a meteorite. The only importance for the country of origin of a
meteorite before was
to define the average weight of an meteorite . But this was already found
out by
Antarctic meteorites (average weight of an meteorite on planet earth is
about 10 grams).
Of course some collectors would have liked to know rather the country of
where his
meteorite was found than the distances between each found specimen.
It became a more and more common practice nowadays that some hunters give
wrong
locations for their finds (to avoid lawsuits regarding ownership's and also
to hide
data's from other competing hunters).
But this French man is an honest hero of meteorites .He doesnt lie like
some other
hunters about where he found his meteorite really.
But on the other hand it is easy to comprehend that meteorite pioneer
French man doesnt
desperately want that the competition gets the information where he found
and finds his
many meteorites. He has put so much scientific research and personal effort
and hard
work on his tours.
So he deserves the right of data security !
Of course most of these wrong guessing hunters (mostly French, German,
Italian and an
Austrian group) who were in this part of Africa ( where they thought the
French man
found his stones) were very disappointed.
It was only until 2 months ago when other mineral dealers broke the
original French
pioneers secret.
They found out in which part of Africa the other man found his meteorites.
When the
secret was broken they immediately started their own expedition:
Destination: Western Sahara - Mauritania , which is in the very western
part of Africa.
They found not as much as the pioneer but still were successful enough to
want to
repeat their adventure.
Now many other smart Europeans (mostly French, German and Italian groups)
started
immediately to find their luck there, too or planning so. Instead of
unsuccessfully
looking in the Central Sahara
for meteorites the rush started now in Western Africa:
Another German group with well known mineral dealer A. Guhr and scientists
Dr. Schultz,
Dr.Hillmer ,Dr.Schlueter, Mr. Karstens, Mr. Litamn and Mr.George also made
another
(heavy guarded) expedition in neighboring Niger. this year : They found
more than a
dozen of new meteorites.
Conclusion: While Australia is still the most prosperous country for
meteorite hunters
legal problems in Australia are causing hunters to find their luck
elsewhere.
Western Sahara (Mauritania) may not reward with overwhelming finds by
weight ( like a
private Middle European collector last year found himself alone nearly
1000kg Sikhote
Alin Nickel-Iron Meteorite, Coarsest Individuals a fall of Feb. 12, 1947 in
Russia
Sikhote-Alin -
Location: Maritime Territory,) but it is certainly now the tip for insiders
to discover
unseen treasures without major legal problems like other countries. You may
not get rich
there but you still have a chance there to find a meteorite if you are
patient enough.
Beware of the criminality's in these areas . Guards with weapons are cheap
and might be
a better investment than a profitable life insurance.
After all you might value than after such a dangerous tour the rather low
prices of
the French man or other meteorite hunters.
