4,000 Comet Hale-Bopp Images
I now have over 4,000 images of Comet Hale-Bopp on my home page:
http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/comet/
I also have photos I've taken of Alan Hale and Tom Bopp on the home page,
the co-discovers of the comet. It was quite a thrill to meet them when
we hosted the Comet Chasers event last month at Caltech.
Though Comet Hale-Bopp is now moving away from the Sun and is fading, it is
still quite visible. Bright comets come around about every 20 years years
on the average. Comets like Comet Hale-Bopp only come around about every
200 years. The next known bright comet will be Halley's Comet in 2061,
so this may be your last chance to see a bright comet for a quite a while.
